Disc Golf European Championships 2023

Over the past two weeks, the European Disc Golf Championships have been held at two different venues.

The MPO and FPO categories were hosted in Tallinn (Estonia), while the MP40, FP40, MP50, FP50, MP55, MP60 and MP65 categories were contested in Szarvas (Hungary). Switzerland was represented in various categories.

Our line-up in Estonia:

  • Lukas Schär (MPO)
  • Emile Barbe (MPO)
  • David Hüsler (MPO)
  • Melanie Meuter (FPO)

Our lineup in Hungary:

  • Natalie Holloköi (FP40)
  • Martin Jenny (MP50)
  • Christof Schlegel (MP50)
  • Karin Rubin (FP50)
  • Jürgen Disch (MP55)
  • Peter Hüsler (MP60)
  • Paul Francz (MP65)

Stephan Müller and Julia Burkhardt had to cancel their participation in the European Masters Championships due to illness (Covid).

The European Championships in Tallinn were eagerly awaited. Kristin Tattar, this season’s shooting star, was naturally on hand to make history. And she did! In front of her home crowd, she won the title she was still missing. Melanie Meuter, who was also at the start in the FPO category, achieved a respectable 22nd place, as this was her first participation in the European Championships.

Our MPO topshots Emile Barbe and Lukas Schär made the cut for the final day. They finished 42nd (Lukas Schär) and 45th (Emile Barbe). David Hüsler did not make the cut and finished in 69th place.

In the Masters categories, the results were a little better, with Switzerland bringing home two medals.

Paul Francz leads the way with his gold medal! He won the gold medal in his home country, congratulations Paul! The second precious metal was won by Karin Rubin, who finished a sensational third at the European Championships.

Congratulations again to Karin! Martin Jenny just missed out on the podium, finishing fourth in his category; Christof Schlegel, in the same category, came 25th. Jürgen Disch and Peter Hüsler didn’t have quite the success they’d hoped for at these European championships. Jürgen (who is still battling an injury) finished the tournament in 19th place. Peter Hüsler finished the tournament in 9th place. Natalie also just missed the podium, finishing the tournament in fourth place. But she did what no one else could do for the entire tournament: she scored the only ACE of the EM 2023 Masters!

We’d like to thank all the players* who attended the event, as well as all the volunteers who worked around the EC framework, and we’re already looking forward to the next ECs! Photos and video to follow in the next few days!
