The EDGF has published that it and the organisers of the 2021 European Championship in the Czech Republic continue to expect to be able to hold this major event for Europe.
During the last weeks and days there have been lively and intense discussions. The national representatives as well as the team captains were able to get involved. There are countries that do not expect their athletes to be able to attend the European Championships, or at least not without great effort or restrictions (quarantine, etc.). For this reason, some countries such as Finland, Sweden, Norway and possibly other countries will probably not be represented with athletes.
The organising committee has now exchanged views with the situation and local sponsors and national representatives, stating that they support the hosting of a European Championship in 2021. We are pleased that our Swiss team has united in their support for participation in the European Championships. It is clear that the safety of the athletes is paramount. Should the COVID situation change, the organizing committee could adopt further measures or carry out other considerations.
Let us support our representatives and hope for another successful European Championship for Switzerland!
