The Swiss Championships were organized this year by the Voodoo Warriors Zurich and what the Voodoos achieved was second to none. A great course, an even better players’ village and the advertising in print and on TV made this event a highlight this year! A big MERCI from the entire association at this point!
The SM started for various players on Friday afternoon, namely with the doubles in the Open and Mixed categories! 33 teams competed for victory in both categories. In the end, the duo Sam DuCharm and Johan Walstam won the Open category. Mona and Ivo Blättler won the Mixed category. Congratulations to them!
While it was already warm on Friday, it got really hot on Saturday; not only because rounds one and two were very exciting, but also because the thermometer climbed higher and higher. Nevertheless, everyone enjoyed the tournament, despite the almost unbearable temperatures. In the evening, there was a putting contest in the Players Village (winner: Emile Barbe) accompanied by a live DJ with good taste in music.
A thunderstorm passed over the region during the night and so it was noticeably cooler on Sunday. Many agreed that Sunday’s round took place in perfect conditions. The finalists were allowed to play the final nine after round three! The players were accompanied by a number of spectators, including many participants. In the MPO category, it remained exciting right to the end. In the end, Lukas Schär secured the title ahead of Emile Barbe. In the FPO category, it was more or less clear even before the final 9 that Natalie Holloköi could take home the victory. However, the battle for second place was exciting, with Melanie Meuter securing 2nd place in the end, ahead of Mona Blättler. In the MP40 category, Stephan Müller secured the title without any major problems.
