Swisstour 2023 Finals

From October 14-15, Bern not only hosted the Bern Open; the Bern Open was also the final event of the Swisstour 2023.

This year, the winners were sought in seven categories. In some categories everything was still open before the final tournament, but in the MP60 category the winner had already been decided. Werner Kuster was clearly in first place with his points. He has played six tournaments this season and won four of them! Congratulations to him.

The whole season was exciting in the MP50 category, but Peter Hüsler came out on top in the end; Paul Francz had to sit out the last three tournaments due to injury. Peter and Paul seemed to avoid each other throughout the season. They only met twice, with Paul winning both encounters. In the end, however, Peter Hüsler came out on top. Congratulations to him!

We would like to highlight another category, because the MPO category has not been as exciting as this year for a long time. On the one hand, over 83 players took part throughout the season and on the other, it remained exciting right to the end. The Swiss top shot Emile Barbe surprisingly finished his Swisstour season in 8th place, but if you take a closer look, Emile only took part in four tournaments, three of which he won. Lukas Schär, who is also one of Switzerland’s best, narrowly missed out on defending his title. In the end, less than 30 points separated him from first place, which Connor Wellbourne-Wood took for the first time! Connor, who was able to draw attention to himself with a strong second half of the season, came out on top in the end. Connor may not have been able to convince at the Bern Open (12th place), but in the end it was enough for him to win his first Swisstour title! Congratulations to him!

We would like to thank all the tournament organizers, their helpers and all the players for this season. It has been great fun to see so many active players at tournaments across the country! We are already looking forward to the 2024 season and will be publishing an interview with Martin “BEO” Jenny, who is responsible for competitive sport in the association, in the next few days.
