Swisstour 2024 Halftime report

The Swisstour 2024 is currently on its summer break. Traditionally, there are no Swisstour tournaments in Switzerland in the summer; the Zurich Open at the beginning of July was the last one. The next tournament will be the Swiss Championship in Samedan, which is not part of the Swisstour.

The next Swisstour tournament will take place on September 7 and 8 on the Felsenegg. This gives us plenty of time to take a look at the current standings in the various categories. The Swisstour 2024 includes the following categories: FPO, MPO, FP40, MP40, MP50, MP60 and Juniors; across all categories, there are just under 150 participants. If you take a closer look at the individual categories, the two largest categories are MPO followed by MP40.

Let’s look at the MPO category first. What stands out? Well, for one thing, certainly 2nd place, where Tony Ferro currently sits. After his absence last year, when he made the DGPT and a few Masters tournaments in America unsafe, he can now often be seen at a Swisstour tournament again. His four tournaments have resulted in three wins, just not enough for first place. Christopher Walker from the Voodoo Warrios Zurich is currently in first place. Although he has not yet won a tournament, he has managed to collect a few podiums and thus points. Lüku Schär from Bern follows in 3rd place. There is a small gap of just under 60 points after Lüku, so everything is still wide open in the top 5.

In the MP40 category, the picture at the top is somewhat more familiar. As in the previous year, Stephan Müller is currently in first place. He has won two of his four tournament participations. In second place, just 20 points behind, is Martin (BEO) Jenny. Ivo Blätter follows in 3rd place, 50 points behind. Simon Achermann, another player from Stans, follows in 4th place with 437.8 points. This is followed by a somewhat larger gap to 5th place, which is currently occupied by Dominic Balmer.

Let us now turn our attention to the two women’s categories FPO and FP40. The first thing you notice is that Melanie Meuter from the Voralpen Eagles is completely absent this year due to a trip to the USA. However, a familiar name catches the eye, Tabea Wallus is back. Although she only took part in two tournaments, she won both of them and is therefore in second place in the FPO category. Mona Blättler from Blowflies Stans is in first place with a large points gap, and she has also won three stops. A new face follows in third place with Heidi Poutanen, who won the Revolution in Geneva (B-tier tournament) in her only participation this year. In addition to Mel’s absence, the following name stands out at the bottom of the table: Natalie Holloköi, the more absent rider this year due to an accident. She had to give up the Chili (DNF) and in Zurich she started with an injury.

In the FP40 category, Julia Burkhardt leads by a large margin ahead of Karin Rubin. A new name follows in third place, Anda Sproge-Vavere from the Voralpen Eagles. She currently holds 3rd place just ahead of Doris Rubin.

Now we come to our oldest category. The MP60 category is currently led by Stefan Schneider. When he starts, he wins the tournament, at least so far. Three participations, three victories. Turi Küttel, however, is hot on his heels, with just 2.5 points separating the two. Two Daniels follow in third and fourth place, third place belongs to Daniel Lucachick and fourth place to Daniel Farine.

From the older men to our youngest! The MJ18 category is once again firmly in the hands of Luke Ferro this year. He dominates the field and has won four tournaments. Luke is currently still in the USA but will be back in the country for the upcoming Swiss Championships. After last year’s absence, he is certainly hungry for another title. In second place is Levin Bätscher, who is often very successful with the billiard cue as well as the disc golf disc.

As you can see, things are happening on the Swisstour 2024. Nothing has been decided yet and there are still a few tournaments to come that could shake up the entire table. Next up, however, is the Swiss Disc Golf Championships in Samedan in August. We wish everyone every success!
