Ethics in Disc Golf

Find out more below about the fundamental principles of ethics in sport, their implementation at national level through the Swiss Sports Ethics Statutes, and the system for reporting infringements.

Ethics in sport is about protecting the health and well-being of athletes* and the credibility of sport. The ethical charter of Swiss Olympic and the Federal Office of Sport (FOSPO) forms the basis for this. This charter is concretized and implemented in Switzerland through the Swiss Sports Ethics Statute. This statute forms the legal basis for the new system of reporting, investigating and sanctioning ethical violations and malfunctions in Swiss sport.

Swiss Disc Golf is committed to a healthy, respectful, fair and successful sport. It puts these values into practice by treating others – and its bodies and members – with respect, and by acting and communicating transparently. Swiss Disc Golf recognizes the current “Ethical Charter” of Swiss sport and disseminates its principles among its member clubs. The Ethics Charter can be consulted on the Swiss Olympic website – Ethics Charter.

Doping goes against the fundamental principles of sport and medical ethics, and constitutes a health risk. For these reasons, doping is prohibited. Swiss Disc Golf and its members are subject to Swiss Olympic’s Statute on Doping (hereinafter: Statute on Doping) and to the other documents that specify it. Any violation of articles 2.1 to 2.10 of the Doping Statute is considered doping.

Swiss Olympic’s Disciplinary Chamber for Doping Cases (hereinafter referred to as the “Disciplinary Chamber”) is competent to judge violations of the applicable anti-doping rules. It applies its own rules of procedure and pronounces the sanctions provided for in the Anti-Doping Statutes or in the regulations of the relevant international federation. The decisions of the Disciplinary Board may be appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, to the exclusion of any state courts.
