The PDGA (Professional Disc Golf Association) organizes the annual Disc Golf World Championships: Am- and Pro Worlds for all categories.
The American and European sports systems are fundamentally different. Disc golf, which originated in the USA, has been given a federation for professionals and amateurs by the PDGA, whereas in Europe we play a neutralized sport. A process of homogenization, based on the “European Sports Model”, is underway. There is as yet no qualification for the world championships at national level (as there is for the European championships). Players are invited directly by the PDGA.
